You would be on the hallowed college road. You arent next to kings (shit culture and a bunch of cunts). They're struggling to fill up a lot of the time lately so you should get into whatever you choose on first round if you meet the requirements for the college at the end of the yearĮxtra: john's is a lot more of a social college. Friday morning lecture attendance is low for college studentsĮ) John's takes a lot of pride in their work but they are also a lot more outgoing for partying in my experienceį) all colleges have the same rule. Every Thursday is an exchange to a club or bar where multiple colleges go and get $4 basics. A lot of o-week is meeting and making friends from other colleges. But they are super helpfulī) yes john's are more often, people tend to blow them off of they're not feeling them, but the food is generally better at these dinnersĭ) nearly constantly. Thanks!Ī) not super strictly enforced as far as I know. I’m aware this general question has been asked several times (and i’ve read a good deal of those posts), but I was hoping for some more up-to-date info. I haven’t been able to decide between John’s and Eman, specifically:Ī) Both Student Handbooks say tutes are compulsory for first years, to what extent is this enforced? Do they get in the way of normal life? Roughly how many sessions a week? Are they helpful, and something I should do even if they weren’t compulsory?ī) Formal dinners are weekly at John’s, whereas not so often at Eman: Are they very inconvenient/strict attendance?Ĭ) The John’s website doesn’t give a very good indication of their facilities, what’s the comparison between the two? How large are the rooms?ĭ) How often do each interact with other colleges/each other?Į) John’s seems very academically strict, is this just a ‘show’ and not very enforced? What’s it like in the party-scene compared to Eman?į) Eman’s website says if I apply to any additional colleges, it could make my application to there void, is this true? Do they have any way of knowing? I was unable to attend the Open Day and will not be able to schedule a private visit.

Hi all! I’m a Year 12 Australian student and am intending to stay my first year on-campus.
